OVERVIEW OF JOHN POWER

John has been in the building industry for nearly 40 years, starting as a master carpenter & joiner, progressing into management level and running his own successful company. John has a wealth of experience in respect of planning projects and dealing with the challenges of man management. In his consultancy role, he has turned around struggling projects achieving profitable results and meeting deadlines.

Recently he has been on the advisory board for The BounceBack Foundation, a charity that trains ex-offenders in decorating, as part of their rehabilitation.

Contract Managment  2014 - 2017

GM Developments LLP

From 2014 John has been working on a consultancy basis for two construction companies overseeing the general management of various projects both commercial and high end residential. The contract values ranged from £4m-£9m.

Projects included:

  • A commercial 5 storey building in St James with 60 seated cinema (JCT Standard)
  • 4 Town houses in Putney (JCT D&B)
  • A commercial 4 building in Marylebone (JCT D&B)
  • A high end 11,000 sq ft detached property in Wimbledon which included, tennis court, bowling alley, Imax cinema (JCT Management Contract)

John was responsible for  planning the works, writing programmes and procurement schedules.

Working with acting solicitors regarding contracts terms, procuring the labour for each project, all meetings and negotiating, all aspics of the financial activity, in fact he ran all aspects of the  projects from being appointed until completion.

John has sponsored a large number of apprentices through Wandsworth School of Building and also directly employing them, which is something he has always been passionate about.

Projects included:

  • Building 6 high end new build residential houses in St Georges Hill ranging from 11,000-16,500 sq ft. All properties had underground structures. Project values were £4m- £10m. 
  • Managing Director of the construction company
  • Dealing with funders and monitoring surveyors
  • Attending board meetings and reporting to shareholders
  • Writing programmes and planning the works
  • Procuring and negotiating with sub-contractors 
  • Planning the works and writing the procurement schedules

Duties included:

  • Dealing and negotiating with banks supporting the projects
  • Attending and reporting on board meetings
  • Writing programmes and planning the works

In 2006 to 2009 

John designed an built six high end new build residential houses in 

St Georges Hill ranging from 11,000-16,500 sq ft. Project values were 

£4m- £10m.

Managing Director Petrus Estates Ltd

John took on the Managing Director role to head up a property development company. 

He was MD of both the property and construction side of the business.

Projects included:

Procure a detached nursing home in Surrey consisting of 7 luxury apartments and two town houses which included underground leisure complex
